The forests and woodlands of the Pacific Northwest are Joy’s sanctuary and inspiration. Her art is a song of praise and a call for stewardship. It speaks to remembered moments through selected bits and pieces from the natural world, usually with a reference to trees. She creates what she calls “assembled landscapes,” using reclaimed wood and hot melted bees wax mixed with resin and pigment known as encaustic medium.
